Fed's Madigan to Retire Later This Year as Top Monetary Adviser

April 12 (Bloomberg) — The Federal Reserve said Brian Madigan, the top staff adviser on interest-rate policy and an architect of the emergency-lending programs during the financial crisis, will retire later this year.

Madigan, 56, will be succeeded July 23 as director of the Fed's Division of Monetary Affairs by Deputy Director William English, 49, the Fed said in a statement today in Washington. Madigan will remain a senior adviser to the Fed's Board of Governors after English takes over the division. The central bank didn't give a specific retirement date.
